MIT Invite

This past weekend the Lyons travelled to Cambridge, MA for an invitational hosted by MIT; with Tufts, Brandeis, Colby, NYU and Bowdoin joining Wheaton at MIT's famed Zesiger Aquatics Center. The women got things rolling with a third place finish of 1:40.66 in the 200 freestyle relay. Other top female swims included; Dania Piscetta in the 50 free (lead-off relay split, 24.38), 100 free (53.85) and the 100 fly (58.39) - the 50 free and 100 fly were NCAA 'B' qualifying times. Caroline Isaacs had a great meet with top swims in the 200, 500 and 1650 freestyle (2:03.03, 5:23.66, 18:49.44). Sarah Miller swam best times in the 200 free, 500 free and the 200 breast (2:02.11, 5:27.17, 2:33.91). Freshman Dana Auger swam best times in the 100 and 200 backstroke as well as the 50 free (1:05.22, 2:23.86, 26.68). Nicole Zais had top swims in the 100 and 200 breast (1:09.27, 2:29.30). Other top swims included Chelsea Stephenson and Julia Kusiak-Carey in the 500 free (5:33.46 and 5:38.20), Iris Meehan and Katie Bordeau in the 200 backstroke (2:17.73 and 2:21.32), and Taryn Brosnan in the 200 butterfly (2:18.84). Wheaton divers also contributed to the amazing weekend. Julia Wright finished 3rd on 1 meter (228.60), Alexandra Wilson finished 13th and Emma Chaiken was 11th. The women finished fourth overall.

The men saw great swims from Sam Dean-Lee in the 500 free (5:06.30), Zach Fichman-Klein in the 50 free and 100 butterfly (23.00, 55.05), Devon Best in the 100 backstroke (57.62), Eddie Gillie in the 200 fly (2:07.55) and Sam Neill in the 100 free (50.85). Check out full results here.

Following the holiday break, Wheaton swimmers and divers head to Deerfield Beach Florida for 10 days of intense training before they return to MIT's Zeisiger Aquatics Center for a dual meet against MIT. Stay tuned.
