NEWMACs NEWMACs NEWMACs WOMEN

The women fought a tough field this year at the New England Men's and Women's Conference Swimming Championships. They finished third behind MIT, Springfield and US Coast Guard. Some of the highlights include -

Day 1
The first event of the competition was the 200 Freestyle Relay. The women finished 3rd 1:37.14 (Steph Perkins, Dania Piscetta, Elle Van Cott, Nicole Zais)

There were 3 scores in the 50 freestyle (Dania Piscetta 2nd 24.07, Nicole Zais 11th 25.04, Steph Perkins 13th 25.11)

The womens 400 Medley Relay team finished 2nd 3:59.52 (Elle Van Cott, Nicole Zais, Taryn Brosnan, Dania Piscetta)

Day 2
The women started the evening with a 3rd place finish in 200 Medley Relay 1:49.18 (Elle Van Cott, Nicole Zais, Sara Hollar, Steph Perkins)

The 400 IM found Caroline Isaacs breaking her own school record by 4 seconds to finish 5th 4:43.31 and Alisha Wilson dropping 3 seconds from her preliminary swim to finish 13th 4:52.54

Sara Hollar broke a minute in the 100 fly to finish 10th 59.86

Nicole Zais grabbed 2nd in the 100 breaststroke 1:06.82, Steph Perkins was 9th, Kirstie Parkinson 10th 1:09.94 and Nina Lanctot 15th 1:10.15 (prelims)

Elle Van Cott snagged the school record in the 100 backstroke on Day 1 of competition in the Medley Relay 1:00.31 and Dana Auger was right by her with a blistering 1:01.70 on the B Relay team. In the individual event they finished 5th and 12th

Day 3
The final day of competition was highlighted with three amazing swims. Elle Van Cott finished 12th in the 200 backstroke 2:13.65, Nicole Zais chased down her title in final leg of the 200 breaststroke, out touching MIT for the win 2:22.96. Sara Hollar then went on to finish 7th in the 200 fly with a smoking-fast-2:12.71

Nicole Zais and Charlie Maier named NEWMAC Swimmer and Diver of the week!!

Senior Nicole Zais was awarded female NEWMAC swimmer of the week last week for her outstanding showing at the Wheaton Invitational. Nicole won both breastrokes
(1:07.29, 2:30.02)and was part of the winning 400 Medley Relay team along with Elle Van Cott, Sara Hollar and Dania Piscetta. To read more about Nicole, click here.

Freshman Charlie Maier was awarded male NEWMAC diver of the week last week for his showing at the Wheaton Invite. It was the first time diving 11 dives and Charlie finished second on both boards, snagging the school record on 3 meter, 395.45. To read more about Charlie, click here.

Wheaton women are @ Mt Holyoke this weekend for NEWMAC Conference Championships.
The men are @ MIT next weekend.
