Nicole Zais TEARS it up at NCAA's

Last week coach JP Gowdy and Wheaton senior Nicole Zais travelled to The University of Tennessee for the 2011 Division III NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. On the third day of competition, Nicole broke her own school record in the 100 breaststroke finishing 15th in 1:04.23. On the final day of competition, Nicole placed 6th in the 200 breaststroke in a blistering fast 2:18.60. This makes Nicole the highest individual female finisher at an NCAA Championship in Wheaton history. To read the full story, click here.

Wheaton College Swimming and Diving will have their banquet on Sunday April 4th to celebrate a great year of solid racing.

Unofficial Psych Sheet for Nationals

Congrats to seniors Dania Piscetta and Nicole Zais for their births to the NCAA's in Tennessee on March 23-26.

Dania will swim the 50 and 100 freestyle and the 100 butterfly. Nicole will swim the 50 freestyle and the 100 and 200 breaststroke. To read more about Nicole and Dania, click here.

NICOLE ZAIS qualifies for NCAA's

While the men were duking it out the MIT's pool, senior Nicole Zais traveled to NYU for a last chance meet to qualify for Nationals. With one other swimmer by her side, Nicole broke her own school record, qualifying for NCAA with an A cut time in the 200 breaststroke 2:19.35. Read the complete article here.

NEWMACs NEWMACs NEWMACs MEN

The men had a great meet this past weekend at MIT, defeating NEWMAC foe WPI, finishing in fourth place behind MIT, Coast Guard and Springfield.

Day 1
The first day of competition found the men Zach FIchman-Klein, Sam Neill, Ben Sabol, Emmerson Jenkins in 5th in the 200 freestyle relay 1:25.55(prelim)

Emmerson Jenkins finished 8th in the 50 free 21.34(prelim)

The 400 Medley Relay team of Ben Sabol, Sam Dean-Lee, Zach Fichman-Klein and Emmerson Jenkins finished 4th 3:32.93

Charlie Maier finished 4th on the one meter dive 426.60

Day 2
The 200 Medley Relay team of Sabol, Dean-Lee, Fichman-Klein, Jenkins had an All Conference swim with a 2nd place finish 1:35.43

Spencer Deans finished 11th and Eddie Gillie 14th in the 400 IM

Zach Fichman-Klein finished 8th in the 100 fly

Sam Dean-Lee finished 8th, Zach finished 12th and Emmerson finished 14th in the 100 brea

Ben Sabol finished 8th in the 100 back and Devon Best finished 14th

Day 3
The final night of competition saw some great swims from Christian Woods 17:10.17 (12th) and Spencer Deans 17:21.85 (14th) in the 1650 freestyle

Devon Best and Ben Sabol finished 11th and 13th respectively in the 200 backstroke

Emmerson Jenkins finished 9th in the 100 freestyle 47:29

In the 200 breaststroke Trevor Deans was 12th, Kyle Wilson was 15th 2:19.76 and Sam Dean-Lee was 16th

Corey Best finished 8th in the 200 fly

Charlie Maier finished 5th on the three meter dive

The final event of the competition saw the 400 freestyle relay team of Nick Oliveri, Sam Neill, Sam Dean-Lee and Emmerson Jenkins finished 5th 3:12.07
