Wheaton tops Keene State but falls to Springfield

This past weekend the Wheaton College Lyons found themselves in their 2nd double dual meet of the season, this time against NEWMAC powerhouse Springfield College and top ranked Keene State. The women beat Keene State, but fell short to reigning NEWMAC champion Springfield. The men fought hard, but came out short against both teams. Click here for full results.

The first event of the meet, the 400 Medley Relay saw Adrianne Madden, Nicole Zais, Dania Piscetta and Steph Perkins dominate the field winning in a time of 4:05.94. According to collegeswimming.com, it is the 12 fastest swim in the country to date.

Nicole Zais - 100 breast (16th), 200 breast (6th)

200 Medley Relay - Dana Auger, Zais, Piscetta, Madden (18th)
400 Medley Relay - Madden, Zais, Piscetta, Perkins (12th)

Adrianne's 50 free, Dania's 100 free and 100 fly, Nicole Zais's 100 breast and 200 breast, the 400 medley relay and the 200 free relay, were all achieved during the meet against Springfield and Keene State.

Wheaton swimmers and divers fought hard against NYU and Coast Guard, but the men fell to both and the women lost to NYU, but defeated Coast Guard 150-145. Check out full results here.

Congratulations to Emma Chaiken for taking both the 3 meter and 1 meter diving events, Nicole Zais for her wins in the 100 and 200 breaststroke, Dania Piscetta and Adrianne Madden's wins in the 100 fly and 50 free and the womens 200 medley relay win (Dana Auger, Zais, Piscetta, Steph Perkins).

Batterman Relays

This weekend found MIT, Tufts University, Roger Williams University and Wheaton College compete in the annual Batterman Relays. After a very difficult week of training, Wheaon College arrived at the Balfour Natatorium excited to race. The first event of the meet, the 200 medley relay, saw the ladies (Auger, Zais, Piscetta, Madden) finish 2nd behind MIT with a sixth fastest swim in Wheaton history (1:51.45). Madden, Zais, Perkins and Piscetta also teamed up and swam a whopping fast 200 freestyle relay defeating MIT with a third fastest swim in Wheaton history (1:38.49). The men also had great showings in the 200 medley and free relays. In the 200 medley relay Sabol, Jenkins, Fichman-Klein and Neill finished fourth with a 1:42.10. The same four guys re-teamed in the 200 freestyle relay to finish third in 1:29.07.

Congratulations to Nicole Zais for breaking her own school record in the 100 individual medley 1:02.05.
Zach Fichman-Klein has made his way into the top tens with a 3rd place swim in the 100 IM, 57.55.
Adrianne Madden's additions to the top tens in the 50 free (4th - 24.36), 100 free (7th - 55.90), 50 fly (2nd - 27.07) and 50 backstroke (4th - 29.04).
Nina Lanctot's addition to the top tens in the 50 breaststroke (10th -33.59).
Emmerson Jenkins addition to the top tens in the 50 free (8th - 22.54) and the 50 backstroke (10th - 26.60).
400 freestyle relay team (Madden, Perkins, Zais, Piscetta) top ten (8th - 3:43.23).
200 freestyle relay team (Fichman-Klein, Neill, Sabol, Jenkins) top ten (8th - 1:29.03).
Charlie Maier's school record in the one meter dive (240.08) and his addition to the top tens in the three meter dive (9th - 185.40).

It's been an amazing start to the season.
