Wheaton vs Colorado College vs Springfield vs Keene State


Wheaton swimmers had a busy past weekend that started Thursday evening at the Balfour Natatorium in Norton, MA. Fired up and ready to swim fast, both the men and women were confidant to race and defeat Colorado College.

The women came away victorious with a 174-113 victory over the visiting team. The men were defeated 146-147.

Some of the highlights from the meet include Eddie Gillie, Spencer Deans and Christian Woods 2, 3, 4 finishes in the 1000 free (10:40.19, 10:51.65, 11:00.45) and Kathleen Dwyer and Alisha Wilsons 1-2 in the same event (11:53.32, 11:55.76). Corey Best and Charlie Western went 1-2 in the 100 fly (56.72, 56.80). Zach Fichman-Klein won the 50 free (23.13), Sarah Miller took the top spot in the 100 breast (1:12.03), and Dania Piscetta continues to dominate with her win in the 100 backstroke (1:04.46). Lone male diver Jon Gold finished second, 1M (204.15). It was a tough loss for the men, suffering a disqualification on the final relay. To see full mens results, click here. Saturday morning Wheaton swimmers departed from Wheaton's campus and travelled to Springfield, MA for a double dual meet against Springfield College and Keene State. Both teams were defeated.

Highlights include Dania Piscetta's double victories in the 100 freestyle (54.34) and the 100 butterfly (59.50) and Nicole Zais's triumphs in the 100 and 200 breaststroke's (1:10.97, 2:33.69). Zach Fichman-Klein nabbed a second place finish in the 100 butterfly (55.38). Eddie Gillie finished third in the 200 butterfly (2:09.41) as did Devon Best in the 200 backstroke (2:07.03). Senior captain Iris Meehan also delivered some nice swims in both the 100 and 200 backstoke's (1:03.66, 2:19.86). The men had a fast showing in the 200 freestyle relay with Zach Fichman-Klein, Sam Neill, Sam Dean-Lee and Ben Sabol producing their fastest time of the season thus far, finishing second with a 1:32.72.
