Wheaton College Swimming and Diving met yesterday on campus to celebrate a tremendous season. The first award of the night was MVP, followed by the coaches award, most improved.
Most Valuable Swimmer - Male Freshman Emerson Jenkins had an amazing first seaon with the Lyons, finishing in 8th place in the 50 free (21.34p), 14th in the 100 breast (1:02.25p) and 9th in the 100 free (47.29) at NEWMACs. He was also a part of Wheatons All-American Relay team in the 200 Medley with seniors Ben Sabol, Sam Dean-Lee and Zach Fichman-Klein (pictured below).
Most Valuable Swimmer - FemaleSenior Nicole Zais had a stellar season highlighted by her 6th place finish in the 200 breaststroke at NCAA's in school record fashion (2:18.60). She is the first ever Wheaton female swimmer in history to achieve this success. Congratulations Nicole.

Most Improved - MaleGriffin Hanley had a great sophomore season with the Lyons. He dropped 1.06 seconds in the 50 free, 2.78 seconds in the 100 breaststroke, and 4.49 seconds in the 200 breaststroke from last years NEWMAC Championship meet. And this doesn't include relay splits!! Congrats Griffin!!
Congratulations Sophomore NEWMAC All-American Elle Van Cott saw vast improvements this year. After giving up a third individual event to swim 5 relays at NEWMACs, Elle was given the chance to prove herself in the backstrokes. She did an amazing job, earning school records in the 50 and 100 backstroke in 28.04 and 1:00.31 respectively. Congratulations Elle!!
